Keep your mindset of a challenger.

One week after GPF, we can watch more and more sport commenters praised Yuzu’s performances, especial his free skating. Among them, the conclusion of a Japanese commenter impressed me most. It is a kind of understanding more than praise. 

The commenter is Minoru Sano who is a bronze medallist in 1977 Worlds. Coincidentally, Yuzu’s ex-coach, Mr. Tsuzuki, has mentored him.

Sano commented at the end of Yuzu’s free skating:

“After NHK Trophy, Yuzuru said he would return and compete as a challenger. Today, I thought he found his strength back.

In my opinion, he must experience the fall of 3Luz. It is all right. In order to improve ever better, that fall will be another motivation for him to master more precisely and become stronger.

He must challenge himself once more. I even think he should not get rid of the mindset of a challenger. He should regard himself as a challenger until the last.”
